As expected.<br>Hmm&#8230; the fork clamp uses a single fastener.<br>That probably means it&#8217;s an <strong>M8<\/strong>.<br>Judging by its size, the handlebar clamp is likely <strong>M6<\/strong>.<br>So you&#8217;ll have to switch tools during disassembly.<br>Since both fasteners are accessible from the same position, wouldn&#8217;t it make more sense to use two M6 bolts on the fork clamp as well?<br>Or&#8230; is using a single M8 bolt actually faster, even with the tool change?<br>Wait a second&#8230;<br>During a race, would you ever loosen both the handlebar clamp and the fork clamp at the same time?<br>If you&#8217;re only replacing the handlebar, there&#8217;s no need to loosen the fork clamp.<br>And if you&#8217;re replacing the entire assembly, you wouldn&#8217;t loosen just the handlebar clamp.<br>In that case, a single M8 fastener is unquestionably the quickest solution.<br>I see&#8230;<br>Now it all makes sense.<\/span><\/p>\n<span class=\"c-balloon__shapes\"><span class=\"c-balloon__before\"><\/span><span class=\"c-balloon__after\"><\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"u-mb-ctrl u-mb-10 has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;ll stop here for now.<br>Just from this single photo, that&#8217;s the kind of thought process that goes through my mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"u-mb-ctrl u-mb-10 has-xs-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">*<em>Please note that these are only my own observations and interpretations. I don&#8217;t actually know what the designer&#8217;s original intentions were.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Interestingly, if this component eventually goes into production, the points I discussed above are exactly what people refer to as <strong>&#8220;feedback from racing.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading u-mb-ctrl u-mb-10 has-medium-font-size\"><strong>If this were to become a production product&#8230;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">My thought process doesn&#8217;t stop there.<br>The next question I ask myself is:<br><strong>&#8220;If I were to turn this into a production product, how would I design it?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"swell-block-balloon\"><div class=\"c-balloon -bln-left -sp-vrtcl\" data-col=\"gray\"><div class=\"c-balloon__icon -circle\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/tsrjp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/motoro.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-balloon__iconImg\" width=\"80px\" height=\"80px\"><span class=\"c-balloon__iconName\">motorockman<\/span><\/div><div class=\"c-balloon__body -speaking -border-none\"><div class=\"c-balloon__text\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size:16px\" class=\"swl-fz\">This level of race-focused design is probably unnecessary for anything other than track use.<br>Then again, if it&#8217;s for the CBR, maybe going all-out is exactly the right approach&#8230;<br>Or perhaps a simpler design at a more affordable price would appeal to more riders.<br>But on the other hand, once the design has already been completed, producing the same specification is certainly the easier option&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<span class=\"c-balloon__shapes\"><span class=\"c-balloon__before\"><\/span><span class=\"c-balloon__after\"><\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"u-mb-ctrl u-mb-10 has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Something like that.<br>Even when looking at a single component, a design engineer doesn&#8217;t just see the part itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re constantly thinking about the story behind it\u2014why it was designed that way, what problems it solves, what compromises were made, and how we might approach it differently.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":17185,"template":"","class_list":["post-17183","tips","type-tips","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/tsrjp.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tips\/17183","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/tsrjp.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tips"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/tsrjp.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/tips"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tsrjp.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tsrjp.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/17185"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/tsrjp.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=17183"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
