It was a test at Suzuka, but we were setting up the bike with Spa in mind.
Spa and Suzuka share the same transmission gear ratios.
That’s why the engine is the same too!
Since there are no tests or special track sessions at Spa, this Suzuka test was incredibly important.
John has only ridden a 1000cc bike at Spa before.
Also, since it’s an 8-hour race, I’m thinking we can have just the two of them ride, just like last year.
Even so, it’s his first time at Suzuka, and he hit the 2-minute 7-second mark on day one and dropped into the 4-second range on day two, so there’s absolutely no need to worry.
He’s truly impressive.
As for the photo, we increased the number of sensors to four starting with this Suzuka test.
It worked out great.
