I wonder how much time I’ve spent staying in different places. If I added it all up, it would probably be several years. Our Paris garage is in TORCY, on the Honda France premises, so I guess I’ve been staying around this area for almost ten years.
Today, I arrived at a B&B as usual. I couldn’t get my usual place near the station, so I booked somewhere a little farther away for the first time. The lady at reception was very nice when I checked in. I wanted to have dinner with the team, but the hotel was quite far away, so I thought I would just see them tomorrow.
I went to reception and asked, in my poor English and French, “Can you recommend a restaurant around here where I can eat alone?” A man who overheard us said, “There are lots of restaurants around TORCY station. I’m going there now, so I can give you a ride.”
I immediately called the team and said, “I’m coming now, so let’s meet at our usual Vietnamese restaurant!” There’s another B&B near the station where I often stay, and the restaurant is close to it. Surprisingly, the man told me he was going to that very B&B.
What a coincidence! So I said, “We’re having dinner at the restaurant anyway, so why don’t you join us?” He said, “Okay, I’ll come later,” and we exchanged phone numbers.
He eventually joined us at the restaurant. We chatted about this and that, and when we finished, he even paid for the whole team’s dinner and drove me back to my hotel.
Then I asked him, “By the way, where do you live?” It turned out that he manages several B&B hotels, including this one. And the lady at reception was his wife!
What a funny coincidence! I’m staying at B&B hotels three times this month, so it looks like this month could be interesting!!
