In April 2016, we competed at Le Mans for the first time.
Since I had already been involved in WGP racing since 1991, it wasn’t my first experience racing overseas, and that helped a lot.
The year before, once I had decided that we would take on Le Mans, I don’t think there was anything left to fear.
I’m not the kind of man who keeps photographs, trophies, or other sentimental memories, so this is actually a rare picture for me.
I’ve known Alan Techer since the days when two-strokes ended and the RS125 was transitioning to the NSF250.
He was still a teenager back then.
There was a test ride event in Valencia, and I still remember him crashing in the rain and crying afterward.
The photo shows Alan smiling.
