[EWC Round 2 Spa 8 Hours Qualifying] F.C.C. TSR Honda France Secures 4th on the Grid — Will the Infamous “Spa Weather” Stir Up Drama in the Race?
2025.06.07 race
The F.C.C. TSR Honda France will start the 8 Hours of Spa Motos from the 4th position on the grid and confirms its competitiveness on the Belgian circuit in various weather conditions.
The Spa-Francorchamps circuit, nestling in the heart of the Ardennes, will host the 8 Hours of Spa Motos, round 2 of the FIM EWC season, on 6 and 7 June 2025. The F.C.C. TSR Honda France team has joined the 43 other teams entered with the aim of returning to the top of the standings on this demanding legendary track, and taking maximum points for the world championship standings.
Despite the capricious weather conditions of the previous days, the two qualifying sessions took place on Friday at 1.35pm and 4.25pm on a dry track. The trio of riders thus proved the performance of the Honda CBR 1000RR-R Fireblade in these various weather conditions.
French rider Alan Techer started first with the other riders wearing blue armbands and topped the timesheets in the opening minutes with a time of 2.19.705. He confirmed his position as leader by further improving his time to 2.19.005 at the end of the session. Then it was Corentin Perolari’s turn (yellow armband) to take provisional 1st place with a fast lap of 2.19.244. He finally finished the session in 3rd place despite a further significant improvement in 2.18.718. The two French riders did not beat their reference times in the 2nd session.
Japanese rider Taiga Hada (red armband), who was making his first outing on the longest circuit of the calendar, contributed to the preparation of the #5 Honda by setting his fastest lap of 2.21.767.
The final qualifying result, based on the average times of the two fastest riders, put the F.C.C. TSR Honda France team 4th on the grid with a time of 2.18.862. This gives the Fuji San team an extra 2 points for the championship.
The riders will take to the track for the 8 Hours of Spa Motos 2025 on Saturday 7 June at 12:30. The race will be broadcast live and in full on Eurosport Player, and partially on Eurosport 2 and La Chaîne L’Équipe in France. Other media will be broadcasting the event around the world.
Alan Techer – rider
“During yesterday’s practice sessions, we had some very unusual conditions, alternating between wet and dry, and we still managed to do very well. This morning on a wet track, we were just as fast. And this afternoon during qualifying in the dry, we were very fast too. We decided to bet everything on the 1st session. It was a gamble, and it probably wasn’t the right choice, because I think that qualifying 2 was quicker. We’ll start 4th, which is still a good position, especially as we have a good race pace in all conditions. We’ll see what we can do tomorrow to have the best possible race.”
Corentin Perolari – rider
“We didn’t ride much in the dry yesterday in free practice, so I’m very happy with these dry qualifying sessions. I set a very good time, Alan rode very well, as did Taiga, and I think we’re pretty consistent. I’m still a bit disappointed that I didn’t manage to improve my time in the last session, but I think it’s going to be a good race because Alan is very consistent. He loves this track. Last year, he rode really well and I did too.”
Taiga Hada – rider
“It’s my first time here. Yesterday’s practice sessions took place in wet conditions and I was only able to do one lap in the dry. So it was my first qualifying in dry conditions and it was difficult, but I managed to qualify. I didn’t have much time to practice on this circuit, but now I’m focused on tomorrow’s race.”
