Shakedown test
2026.01.23 race

Tomorrow is the day.
It’s one of those moments that makes me truly glad I live in Suzuka.
People have often said to me,
“Fujii, you’re lucky—you live in Suzuka, so the circuit is close.”
But that’s not it.
From my perspective,
those who think that way often end up unable to sustain their racing activities,
or they fail.
Isn’t that true for other things in life as well?
We were originally from the Kanto region,
but we moved here when Suzuka Circuit was being built.
Back then, Suzuka was said to be a place where bandits roamed.
There was nothing here…
One of the reasons I respect my father
is because he made that decision.
And my mother—
I truly admire that she followed him.
That same blood runs through me,
which is probably why I’m still wandering around Europe to this day.
The photo was likely taken in Arakawa, Tokyo,
when we were active as Honda’s domestic team.
If you look closely,
you can see “Technical Sports” written in katakana
on the mechanic’s overalls.
