First, please take a look at this.

motorockmanThe reason why the fast lane and the inner lane are different colors is due to the difference in materials. The fast lane used for through-traffic is asphalt, while the inner lane extending from the garages is concrete.Since asphalt is easily damaged, the work area (inner lane) is made of durable concrete.
Here is a quiz for you!
Which of the following is considered the “pit”?
- The garage itself
- The pit boxes
- The entire area from the pit wall in front of the track all the way inside the pit garage
By the way, the definition of a pit is “the place where tire changes, refueling, and maintenance are performed.”
Now, will this piece of information serve as a helpful hint, or is it a trick question!?

Time for the answer!
The correct answer is… ③ Everything from the pit wall to inside the pit garage!
Actually, even people in the industry surprisingly don’t know this. A huge number of people think it just refers to the boxes in option ②.
To be completely honest, I used to be one of them, despite acting like a know-it-all now. It’s an easy mistake to make because they change the tires right around the box area.
By the way, the entire area behind the garages is what makes up the paddock.

What about admission restrictions?
If you purchase a “Paddock Pass,” you can enter the paddock area. However, each team marks their garage as “Authorized Personnel Only.”
In our case at Moto Rockman, since we sponsor races, the teams provide us with Sponsor Passes. This grants us access all the way into the garages. That being said, you still cannot go past the pit lane, as that area is strictly reserved for the pit crew. Well, to be fair, no one really gets mad if you step in just a tiny bit.
Lastly, just between you and me, they only check passes at the entrance to the paddock. There aren’t guards stationed at every single garage, so you could technically just slip into any of them without anyone noticing. The teams themselves don’t really expect outsiders to just walk in anyway. So, if you act like you belong there, you can actually get in quite easily.
When I was younger, I used to stroll into other teams’ garages with a totally straight face. Of course, I don’t do that anymore. I’m way too old to be getting chewed out for that kind of stuff
